Contren Certification--"Wheels of Learning"
The students in all Construction Technologies classes participate in the Contren certification series.
The Contren materials are provided by NCCER (National Center for
Construction Education and Research). The NCCER is a
not-for-profit education foundation that was created to address
the critical workforce shortage in the construction industry and
to develop standardized training programs with portable
credentials. Students complete particular modules
pertinent to their specific course of study. Upon
successful completion of modules (assessed by both written and
performance tests), the student's skill attainment is updated in
the NCCER registry. Certifications are awarded upon
successful completion of a level of a craft curriculum.

CareerSafe Certification
The
CareerSafe program teaches students how to stay safe in the
workplace. This certification, endorsed by OSHA, contains ten
interactive modules which includes topics such as preventing falls,
wearing proper protective equipment, Bloodborne Pathogens,
electrical safety, machine guarding, hazards, ergonomics, etc.
Once a
student successfully completes the 10-hour online CareerSafe course,
the student receives an approved Occupational Safety and Health
Administration (OSHA) wallet card, which demonstrates that the
student has the fundamental safety knowledge needed in the
workplace.
