Contren Certification--"Wheels of Learning"

The students in all Construction Technologies classes participate in the Contren certification series. The Contren materials are provided by NCCER (National Center for Construction Education and Research).  The NCCER is a not-for-profit education foundation that was created to address the critical workforce shortage in the construction industry and to develop standardized training programs with portable credentials.  Students complete particular modules pertinent to their specific course of study.  Upon successful completion of modules (assessed by both written and performance tests), the student's skill attainment is updated in the NCCER registry.  Certifications are awarded upon successful completion of a level of a craft curriculum.

CareerSafe Certification

The CareerSafe program teaches students how to stay safe in the workplace.  This certification, endorsed by OSHA, contains ten interactive modules which includes topics such as preventing falls, wearing proper protective equipment, Bloodborne Pathogens, electrical safety, machine guarding, hazards, ergonomics, etc.  Once a student successfully completes the 10-hour online CareerSafe course, the student receives an approved Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) wallet card, which demonstrates that the student has the fundamental safety knowledge needed in the workplace.
